New National Living Wage Starts April
New National Living Wage
In April the Governments new National Living wage will become law.
If you’re an employer from 1st April 2016 you will need to make sure you’re paying your staff correctly. The New National Living Wage will be enforced as strongly as the National Minimum Wage.
Employees aged 25 and over and not in the first year of an apprenticeship will be entitled to at least £7.20 per hour. The Government is committed to increasing this each year.
Employers
Take these four steps to be ready for the change:-
- Check you know who is eligible. Find out on Gov.UK employment status page
- Take the appropriate action on payroll. Find useful guidance in HMRC tutorials
- Let your staff know their new payrate
- Check your staff under 25 are earning at least the correct rate of National Minimum wage
